The Company

A story that begins in 1955
Calce Raffinata produces natural hydraulic limes in Savignano sul Panaro since the beginning of the last Century.
Documentary sources indicate the existence of even more ancient kilns near Savignano and testify the extraordinary qualities of lime obtained by burning limestone marl of the first Emilia hills.
As a result of constant research and upgrading works of the establishment, all our lime production has obtained the CE certification, according to European standard EN 459-1:2015.
Particular attention is given to Natural Hydraulic Lime (NHL) used in the preparation of mortar for masonry and plaster, in green building, renovation, architectural and monumental.

Production Cycle
In our kiln we produce hydraulic limes (FL) and natural hydraulic limes (NHL).
Our lime comes from natural raw materials (limestone marl) extracted in local quarries, still active near the kiln.
Raw materials, before burning, undergo a process of selection based on precise compositional characters.
The burning takes place in vertical kilns, powered by fossil fuels, which reach temperatures not higher than 1100° C.
The calcined product, once cooled, undergoes a careful hydration process, grinding, and only in the case of HL, mixed with natural pozzolanas.
The building lime is then transported to destination in tank or in buckets (25 kg/each).
The entire production process is constantly monitored to ensure the quality, according to national and international standards.
Our production cycle is documented in this

Selection of marly limestone
Raw materials undergo a selection process based on precise compositional characters.
Sizing
The particular size of the limestone ensures a controlled burning.
Burning
The burning takes place in vertical kilns, powered by fossil fuels, which reach temperatures not higher than 1100° C.
Slaking
The calcined product, once cooled, undergoes a process of controlled hydration.
Grinding
The lime is grounded, and only in the case of FL, mixed with natural pozzolanas.
The grinding is done in ball mills.

Packaging
A wind separator extracts the finest part of the lime, which is transported to destination in tank or in buckets (25 kg/each).
